My name is Michael Searle and I set up M.J.S Computer Services way back in 1999, a few months before the millennium bug was about to strike!
I have 20 years experience in problem diagnosis, repair and upgrades for Personal Computers and Laptops. We are now a tight knit enterprise which includes similarly experienced computer repair technicians.
Our central repair centre is based in Birtley, 5 minutes away from the Angel of the North.
As our business has grown and iPads have become more popular, we have found it necessary to open a central repair centre.
Since opening, we carry out a whole range of repairs, including iPad, iPhone, Samsung Galaxy Tab repairs are carried out here. We can normally turn these around within 1 hour of receiving them! Customers coming into our shop can relax in our lounge area and have their devices repaired while they wait. You can even have a game of Space Invaders on our 1980`s genuine arcade machine! (no 10p coins required!)
M.J.S still offer a call out service. We cover the whole of the North East of England. Washington / Birtley is a great base for us to work from, as this is central to most areas - 10 minutes away from Sunderland or Newcastle - 20 minutes to get to Morpeth or Cramlington (straight through the Tyne tunnel and we are there!)
We now cover areas as far as Alnwick, Morpeth and Cramlington to the North of the region, to Sunderland, Seaham, Hartlepool, Stockton and Middlesbrough to the south.

Over the years, have you noticed how many independent computer repair shops have come and gone, usually within 3-6 months? The problem with all of these shops is they do initially quite well, but quickly exhaust the small area surrounding them and go under due to lack of new sales. By "casting the net further", and providing a professional, friendly service, we have been able to build our customer base and now have many happy and loyal friends who have been with us from the beginning - something you really need when going through a terrible recession!
As laptops became cheaper and more widespread, we have adapted to the challenge of providing quality notebook repair at a competitive price. This is by far the main part of our business now.
Apple iPads and other tablet computers are now becoming even more popular. We now repair these too!
We are delighted by the much positive feedback and comments we`ve received over the years and hope to build on this.
Recently I was discussing with a new client, the negative experiences he has had with other IT Support companies around Newcastle. The main issue raised was not showing up after booking an appointment. It seems strange to me that people would book an appointment and then forget about it or change their mind.

How do we work? Why a mobile service?
MJS Computer Services is a small business. We travel around and help people on-site, because folks like being able to get the problems sorted out, without having to remember how to unplug and replug everything. Its also a hassle to lug your PC around - and the work is carried out there and then.
If it is more convenient for you to drop off your device, perhaps on the way to work and have it repaired for you coming home, this option is now available by bringing it into our shop in Birtley.

We work for small businesses, home users and sub-contract to larger companies that don’t have any local IT support presence. We are thrilled to have quite a number of schools on our books now and larger companies like Sage of Newcastle!
